Gourmets watch out! Because now it's getting tasty. With the Swiss family company Thermoplan, one of the world market leaders in the development and production of fully automatic coffee machines since the mid-1990s, Karl has a customer with particularly good taste in its portfolio. No coffee machine in the world foams milk better than the machines from Weggis. And with its innovative modular system, Thermoplan makes servicing and maintaining its machines quicker and easier than ever before. Customers such as Starbucks and Nespresso appreciate this. The machines are developed, assembled and repaired at around 70 Sintro and Quadro workstation systems from Karl.
Design and functionality
"We have been manufacturing on workbenches from Karl for more than twelve years," says Philipp Durer, responsible for production equipment at Thermoplan. "Furnishing specialists are a dime a dozen. But we like to stick with Karl because the tables are practical, solid and also look good."
It may sound like an empty phrase: Why should a worktable look good? On closer inspection, however, it makes sense. Because aesthetics play a central role in Thermoplan's corporate philosophy. This is not only apparent in the elegant, minimalist design of the fully automatic coffee machines, but also in the place where they are produced: in production. "We have several business managers as guests every week, who we also show where our products are made," says
Durer. "Modern production is an important piece of the mosaic in order to present ourselves as a competent overall company."
Maximum functionality
The company's philosophy is reflected in the architecture of its headquarters, whose glass façade impressively reflects the characteristic Swiss Alpine landscape. At the same time, it is also a statement. "We made a conscious decision in favor of Switzerland as a business location," says Marketing Manager Sylvia
Schoeberl. "Because with us, everything comes from a single source. Quality made in Switzerland. That is the core of our product promise." The essence of this idea is the coffee that the machines brew and their perfect milk foam, for which Thermoplan is renowned. With the new LatteArtist, the engineers have further developed the specially designed system. However, it has its origins where the products are developed and manufactured - at Karl's workplaces.
Pascal Berset, an expert in workplace design, has been Thermoplan's exclusive sales representative for Switzerland from the outset, alongside major customers such as Leica, Siemens and Swatch, and knows the customer's needs inside out. "Thermoplan is a demanding but very loyal customer," he says. "Once a new product is ready for the market, it usually has to go into production very quickly. We only recently delivered 30 work tables."
Thermoplan produces according to the classic 5S method. Its aim is to make production more efficient by systematically designing the workplace. The two hydraulic and mechanical modules that make up the latest Thermoplan Black&White4 compact line are created at separate production islands and are then installed in the chassis. "Karl's workstations are particularly well suited for this," says
Durer. "Because the modular system gives us the
maximum flexibility."
